Derby Duck Race is back and Pavillion unveiled

Date: June 2, 2012
Time: 10:00 a.m.

The DERBY DUCKY RACE is back!.....last year was so much fun, and this year will be even better!  The date for the event is Saturday, June 2, at 10am on the bridge next to Hearth and Home on 19 in Zelie, the bridge that goes to the BiLo Plaza.....just like last year.
*****NEW THIS YEAR******* - a dedication ceremony of the NEW pavilion at the finish line/canoe launch will be at 10:30am while we are waiting for the ducks to arrive!  If you attended last year, you know this site was overgrown & needed TLC......NOT THIS YEAR!!!!!!  It has been revitalized.  Wait until you see it!!!  It's beautiful.  To see pictures of the before and after check out www.megansmission.org  HERE IS THE INFO THAT GOT THIS STARTED.........
Megan Durst, mother of two boys, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend possessed an amazing compliment of positive human attributes.  She led a                     simple, elegant, faith-filled life and had an uncharacteristic ability to improve any situation she was in.  The joy of her life was being a mother to her two                 precious little boys.  She was an amazing mother that would do anything for her sons, she loved them deeply and unconditionally all day, everyday.  She             carried smiles, hugs, and laughs with her wherever she went.  One couldn't spend time with Megan without having fun.  If one picked the thing in Megan's life     that was most important to her it would be family: both her family growing up and the family she had with her husband and boys.  Building this pavilion,                 rehabilitating this park, and creating this beautiful space for families seems like a very fitting way to remember and honor her.  Megan would love this space         because it is a place where families can come together and simply enjoy being a family.  Sadly, Megan will never be able to enjoy this place with her family, but     it is clear she would be so happy to have others here fishing, swimming, canoeing, having a picnic, and enjoying it all in memory of her.    ~Matt
Matt and their two boys, Mattix & Mason, will unveil this new pavilion with a dedication ceremony at 10:30am!!!  Matt, several teachers from SV Middle School and Matt's families have been working on this site since January!.....Directions to the "finish line/pavilion" are at the bottom of this email.
